from Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News,
Many of you have asked how I feel about the Stars trade for Erik Cole, and I have to tell you I’m not sure right now.
You do this long enough and you get a little gun-shy on declaring absolute victory or defeat with a trade or a draft pick or a free agent signing. I know that goes against the grain of our Twitter society, but I’m old.
I will tell you this about the trade _ it follows the path of many Joe Nieuwendyk deals. The Stars believe they can get more out of Cole than the Montreal Canadiens can. They believe that reuniting Cole with old Carolina teammate Ray Whitney will help. They believe that bringing Cole, a New York native, back to the U.S. will help. They believe he is a big strong winger with speed who fits right in with what the Stars are trying to do right now.
They believe they can help him score 30 goals again.
They believe in the potential of Erik Cole, even at 34 years of age.
