from Rich Hammond of the OC Register,
The domestic-battery trial of Kings defenseman Slava Voynov has been delayed again, until early July, after a courtroom dispute Wednesday about whether Voynov’s wife should be compelled to testify.
The trial is now set to start July 6, 7 or 8, at the Torrance branch of Los Angeles Superior Court, but an important hearing will take place May 4. That’s when Judge Eric Taylor will apparently rule on whether Marta Varlamova, Voynov’s wife (and the alleged victim in the case), must answer questions from prosecutors.
Voynov agreed to the delay in his trial, and attended the hearing on crutches with his right leg in a cast. Voynov had surgery last week to repair his Achilles tendon, which further complicates his potential NHL future.

“Plus he recently tore his Achilles…” lol. What a year.
Michael Walsh is her lawyer? Hmm, slightly small world. He might have a tough argument in fighting to keep her off the stand; there’s no spousal testimonial privilege in California when one spouse is alleged to have committed a crime against the other spouse. Of course, she can refuse in spite of that and deal with the possibility of contempt.
