I wouldn’t have minded Detroit make such a trade but the value of Florida’s first round pick should be much lower than Detroit’s. Detroit cannot afford to give away a potential lottery pick when there is some serious talent coming out in next 2 drafts.
Yzerman isn’t done yet. I fully expect them to add another forward via trade or free agency.

The power forward I wanted for the Wings. I wouldn’t give up the first round pick in ‘22 nor ‘23 neither when the advance word is that those classes have some talent that’s way better than this year’s draft. As for a prospect, if he hadn’t bailed, I would have given up Petruzelli.
