via TSN,
The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed defenceman Paul Ranger.
The 28-year-old spent last season with the AHL's Toronto Marlies, where he played 51 games and had eight goals and 17 assists.
Ranger is a veteran of five NHL seasons, all with the Tampa Bay Lightning. He was out of hockey between 2010-12 for personal reasons, and returned to the game after signing with the Marlies last August.
