Patrick Kane’s Season

from Craig Custancde of ESPN,

To me, if Kane continues to play this well all season long, the interesting debate happens after the season. If he hadn't gotten hurt last season, Kane certainly would have been in the Hart conversation, although it would have been hard to imagine anyone prying it away from Canadiens goalie Carey Price.

Now, Kane's arguably in the Hart Trophy driver's seat, but will voters be comfortable voting for a player who was the center of a rape investigation all summer long? Kane maintained his innocence and charges were dropped because of a lack of credible evidence. So, is that it? Does any of that factor in when it comes time to turn in a vote?

It's still a long ways away, but at some point that may become a question voters have to consider.

Hell, Hillary is under FBI investigation and she is running for president. Why should Kane’s investigation cause him any problems?

Exactly this, anyone can be under investigation for anything at any given time and still be as innocent as the next person.  Unless there is evidence that Kane committed a crime, I’m struggling to see why it should matter.  Now his eligibility for the Lady Bing on the other hand…

It’s also the case that just because prosecution is dropped doesn’t mean the defendant did not commit a crime.

As much as I dislike Kane and feel there is more to this story than we will ever know, including some guilt of Kane’s part, I think that has to be put aside when evaluating the MVP because as long as he is eligible to play hockey he should be eligible for that
