Kukla's Korner Hockey

Open for Business

from the Toronto Star,
In the almost two weeks since the new collective bargaining agreement was reached, everyone in the hockey world has been scrambling to make sense of their new world order. It has been a fever pitch, one that will become even more frenetic in less than 48 hours when the biggest bonanza of unrestricted free agents hits the market. Hundreds of players without contracts — some bought out, some not receiving qualifying offers — will be looking for work and the teams that are hiring find themselves in a buyer's market with a new CBA that limits how much they can spend. Oh, and have we mentioned that the season opens in a little more than two months?
