Open Post- Day 35 Of The Stanley Cup Playoffs

With a win tonight, the Montreal Canadiens will be up 3-1 in their series with the Vegas Golden Knights.

We are about to find out if the Habs will continue to shock the hockey world.

Chris Lee and Dan O'Rourke will ref the game, same duo as game 3.

Below, a few pre-game notes.

via the NHL PR department,

* Canadiens rookie Cole Caufield enters Game 4 on a five-game point streak (2-3—5 in 5 GP), the longest by any rookie in the 2021 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Only two Canadiens rookies have posted longer point streaks in the playoffs: Shayne Corson (6 GP in 1987) and Howie Morenz (6 GP in 1924).

* The Canadiens have not allowed a power-play goal in 10 consecutive contests, which is tied for the longest such run by an NHL team in a playoff year since 1933-34 when goals by type were officially tracked (w/ DET in 1937, NYR in 1940 & NJD in 2000). Montreal has killed 25 consecutive penalties over its 10-game run.

* Vegas defensemen have scored six of the team’s eight goals so far in the Semifinals. It marks just the sixth time in Stanley Cup Playoffs history, and first since the Avalanche in the 2002 Conference Semifinals against the Sharks, that a team has received a combined six or more goals from the blueline within the first three games of a best-of-seven series.

* Golden Knights defenseman Alex Pietrangelo has scored at least one goal in each of his last two games (3-0—3). Two defensemen had a goal streak of at least three games during the 2020 postseason: Victor Hedman (4 GP) and Shea Weber (3 GP).

Wow.

Maybe they think Fleury at his age benefits from rest and a reset and
it’s useful to give Montreal a different look to contend with in goal.

Rest is good for Fleury however… 2 game in 41 days for Lehner.  is not good. they have to hope that much time away won’t be an issue.

Back home from my northern get away, just tuning in to see my first game from the Conf Finals. Of course it’s on intermission… Seems like it’s always intermission. Oh well, looking forward to seeing some of this officiating I’ve been hearing so much about.
