Open Post- Day 25 Of The Stanley Cup Playoffs

The Carolina Hurricanes need a home win tonight against the Tampa Bay Lightning or else they can start booking summer activities.

The Colorado Avalanche host the Vegas Golden Knight tonight with the series tied 2-2

Feel free to discuss the games and below find the schedule along with notes and numbers.

via the NHL PR department,

Series Scenarios
* Teams that hold a 3-1 lead in a best-of-seven own an all-time series record of 294-30 (.907), including a 3-1 mark in 2021.

* Teams that hold a 3-2 lead in a best-of-seven own an all-time series record of 328-88 (.788), including a 4-1 mark in 2021.

* When a best-of-seven is tied 2-2, the winner of Game 5 holds an all-time series record of 215-58 (.788).

Pre-game
* The Lightning are 13-12 (.520) in Game 5 of best-of-seven series; the Hurricanes are 8-13 (.381).

* When leading 3-1 in a best-of-seven, Tampa Bay holds an all-time series record of 11-0 (1.000) - including seven times when they won Game 5. When leading 3-2, they own a series record of 7-2 (.778).

* When trailing 3-1 in a best-of-seven, Carolina holds an all-time series record of 0-4 (.000) but have won Game 5 to extend two of those four series (1988 DSF and 2001 CQF). When trailing 3-2, they own a series record of 2-8 (.200).

* The Lightning are 19-12 (.613) in potential series-clinching games all-time, while the Hurricanes are 14-14 (.500) in contests when facing elimination.

Nikita Kucherov has posted 7-10—17 (22 GP) in potential series-clinching games in his career, the most among all active Lightning players, while Jaccob Slavin (0-4—4) leads all active Hurricanes in games when facing elimination.

Jaccob Slavin (1-1—2) and Dougie Hamilton (1-0—1) each found the back of the net in Game 4. Slavin (2-17—19 in 30 GP) and Hamilton (6-8—14 in 30 GP) sit one point and goal behind Dave Babych (7-13—20 in 31 GP) for the most among defensemen, respectively.

Nikita Kucherov (5-12—17 in 10 GP) leads the NHL in scoring in the 2021 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Should he record three points in Game 5, he would become the sixth player in the last 25 years to reach 20 or more playoff points in 11 games or fewer: Nathan MacKinnon (2020 w/ COL), Jake Guentzel (2018 w/ PIT), Sidney Crosby (2018 w/ PIT), David Pastrnak (2018 w/ BOS) and Mario Lemieux (1996 w/ PIT).

* Tampa Bay can become the fifth defending Stanley Cup champion in the last 18 years to reach the final four. The only reigning champs to do so since 2003: Pittsburgh in 2017, Chicago in 2014, Los Angeles in 2013 and Detroit in 2009. Before that, the previous Cup winner reached the Conference Finals in five of six years from 1997 to 2002.

Pre-game
* Colorado is 25-14 (.641) in Game 5 of a best-of-seven series all time; Vegas is 3-5 (.375).

* When tied 2-2 in a best-of-seven, Colorado holds an all-time series record of 11-10 (.524), while Vegas is 1-0 (1.000).

* When leading 3-2 in a best-of-seven, Colorado holds an all-time series record of 12-5 (.706), while Vegas is 3-1 (.750).

* When trailing 3-2 in a best-of-seven, Colorado holds an all-time series record of 2-12 (.143), while Vegas have never trailed 3-2.

* The Avalanche look to at least five consecutive home games within a playoff year for the fourth time in franchise history – they did so in 2000 (7-0), 1997 (7-0) and 2001 (5-0). Including the regular season, Colorado has won 13 consecutive home games dating to March 29 – tied for the longest such run in the NHL over the past six years.

Marc-Andre Fleury is 87-67 (2.53 GAA, .912 SV%, 16 SO) in career playoff games and sits one win shy of tying Billy Smith and Ed Belfour for the fourth-most in NHL history

A cheap hit from behind by Stamkos. The Carolina players then confronts Stamkos and the lineman drapes himself on Stamkos to “protect” him. Guess some players are afforded different rules than others…. hmmm

Point on the pp, 1-0 early in the 2nd.

The broadcast with B. Burke and AJ has been a disaster.  Numerous errors, not their finest hour.

“A nice redirect by vasilevski.”

Yes, AJ, that was a great redirect right to the bottom of the left circle. Great analysis (thumbs up)

Off the top of my head I can think of at least 10 color analysts better than any of the NBC group.

NBC is done with hockey in like 3 weeks and I won’t miss them at all…. shut eye

Also, why I’m on the NBC hate wagon. Their streaming App channel forces you to endure a commercial whenever you switch back from another stream. No getting around it. They also just ran an ad promoting game #4 of the Bruins/Islanders series, which is strange because I thought the Islanders won game #5 last night…???... shut eye

Canes look tired in the 3rd, all Tampa and they score.  Up 2-0 with 10 minutes left.

If tonight’s game is the last time I ever hear Mleczko’s voice agin, it’ll still be too soon.
