Gordie was my childhood idol. I followed his stats religiously as well as the Wings.  It was also a special treat to see him play on HNIC, as well as the Olympia.  He had a good life and a family that loved him dearly, his children involved in hockey and took good care of Gordie after Colleen passed , shows hearts of compassion and love.  It is with sadness that he no longer will be among us, but if we live proper and follow his generous example of faith in God, we may see him again some day.  I believe in heaven and believe he will be signing autographs in heaven for all the fans of the ages!

Condolences from a Habs fan in Montreal.  Gordie was one of the few players in the history of the game to command respect from all sides. I hope he found peace.

Sadly the greatest hockey player who ever played the game is gone. I watched Howe at the Olympia, and he did things no one else could. I met Gordie a couple of times. One at a book signing, and had a picture taken of the two us holding a Howe jersey he signed for me. The jersey is framed and in my basement hanging with other Howe pictures. Going back to the book signing Howe told me Jack Adams was always riding him to stop shooting with either hand. We both laughed about it.  downer
