No Future for Brad Richards in Dallas

From TSN:

With the Dallas Stars’ ownership situation not likely to be settled until later this summer, the team will not be making contract offer to Brad Richards.

Richards, who becomes an unrestricted free agent on July 1, will be playing elsewhere next season.

The Stars would be interested in trading exclusive negotiating rights with Richards before July 1, but such a move would require Richards to waive his no movement clause and there are no guarantees of that happening.

I can’t remember what the going rate is for the negotaiting rights of a player like Richards… any ideas?

I can’t remember what the trade was for the last time a team acquired exclusive negotiating rights for another player.

However, I would think that a trade for Richards with be for a late round draft pick with a conditional early round draft pick(s) if Richards signs with the team.

A couple years ago the panthers traded Jay Bouwmeester’s rights for a third and rights to some other player.
