No Points For The Montreal Canadiens Through Five Games

10/22/2021 at 6:45am EDT

from Stu Cowan of the Montreal Gazette,

There’s a great French saying: “Quand ça va mal, ça va mal.”

Translation: When it goes badly, it goes badly.

Things are going very badly for the Canadiens, who lost 4-1 to the Carolina Hurricanes Thursday night in front of 19,174 fans at the Bell Centre. The Canadiens are now 0-5-0, their worst start since 1995-96, when they were also 0-5-0. The Hurricanes are now 3-0-0.

Sebastian Aho scored twice, while Andrei Svechnikov and — yes — Jesperi Kotkaniemi also scored for the Hurricanes, making things even worse. Tyler Toffoli scored for the Canadiens.

The Canadiens have now been outscored 19-4 in their five games and are the only team in the NHL without a single point in the standings.
