Calgary, AB – The Calgary Flames announced today that they have signed defenceman Kris Russell to a two year contract.
Russell, a native of Red Deer, Alberta, has played 44 games this season with the Flames netting four goals and adding 16 assists for 20 points. The Flames acquired Russell from St. Louis this past off-season in exchange for Calgary’s 5th round selection in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. He has played 408 career NHL games scoring 27 goals and 88 assists for 115 points with Columbus, St. Louis and Calgary. Russell was originally drafted in the third round of the 2005 NHL Draft by the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Contract Terms: Two-year one-way contract with an Average Annual Value of $2,260,000 per season.
