Nathan MacKinnon Suffered A Lower-Body Injury

03/10/2020 at 6:52am EDT

from Mike Chambers of the Denver Post,

Avalanche superstar Nathan MacKinnon suffered a lower-body injury in the second period of Monday’s 3-1 loss against the Los Angeles Kings at Staples Center.

Colorado was trailing 2-0 at the time of the injury and MacKinnon — who leads the team and is fourth in the NHL with 93 points — did not return. Avs coach Jared Bednar was among those who didn’t immediately know how MacKinnon was injured or the severity of it.

“He leaves the game, I’m concerned right away. I have no idea (of the severity),” Bednar said in his postgame press conference. “Honestly, I just went (into the coach’s room) and came out here. I know he wasn’t good enough to come back in the game tonight. So, yeah, there’s some concern.”
