“I get both sides of the argument actually, but I’m more strongly supportive of people voicing their opinion even if they are an athlete. I just feel like, yeah they do have more exposure, media exposure and a soapbox, and whether you think that’s fair or unfair or if it’s warranted or not, I just encourage all people to engage in conversation and engage in politics and that they are aware of what’s going on and they can participate. So if you feel like you have something and you have people that are willing to listen to you, I don’t think that’s out of bounds.

“I mean we had a Supreme Court ruling on Citizens United where they would say corporations basically had free speech and should be treated as a person. So I mean, there’s money and an agenda and all that behind that. So if we’re OK with that, I think we can be OK with a person having a political opinion within the sport. Now it’s up to the sports to handle it the way they feel like they [should] handle it.”

-Ryan Miller of the Anaheim Ducks. Josh Cooper of The Athletic (paid sub.) has much more from Miller.
