Marc Savard Responds To Steve Simmons

Yesterday, Steve Simmons wrote this,

Marc Savard basically disappeared when his career ended in Boston. Media called. Nobody answered. Now suddenly Savard is a media guy. My advice: If he calls, don’t answer.

Today, Marc Savard responded,

Not sure what Simmons was thinking but good on Savard for responding.

Not sure what Simmons was thinking but good on Savard for responding.

Since when does Steve Simmons think about anything?

Of all the crappy media in the hockey world, Simmons is by far the biggest POS.

What a complete failure as a human being.

Some people are such utter trash they should be blackballed. Fire him, ban him, don’t host his blog, and just pretend they don’t exist. The only thing I wish Savard would have added is “Go FUKC yourself”

From his gravatar bio “Known for being outspoken, provocative and opinionated”

...which is always better than being known for quality, thoughtfulness, thoroughness, and an ability to communicate clearly.

He basically describes himself as a troll, and has built his career on it.

Simmons also wrote this in the same column,

There are hockey people who believe Nikita Kucherov sulked his way out of Hart Trophy contention in the NHL. The Tampa star was the front-runner at the 60-game mark — best player on the best team — but his inside complaining about his contract took up too much of his focus down the stretch than his production did. Kucherov is unlikely to be a Hart finalist now.

Joe Smith of the Athletic tweets when asked about it…

Am told “absolutely no truth” to this, per @HockeyAgent1. Milstein hasn’t spoken w Kucherov, or Yzerman, about contract all season. Not an issue. Kucherov an RFA after next season.

Glad he got called out. This is a brand new low for him, to my knowledge. Troll the analytics crowd, at least it’s hockey. This?

Suspend him. Take away his platform. That should teach him.

Who exactly is Simmons’ audience anyways?  Him, Brooks, and guys like that, seriously…. exactly who reads their drivel?

It’s like MItch Albom writing something in Detroit: all anyone is going to do is laugh and ignore it.

You get some right, get some wrong.

With Simmons it’s the sheer seeming pettiness with how he
approaches other people.

It makes him look small.

Hockey at Noon tomorrow ought to be interesting.

Seems like the guy just wants to be budget Don Cherry—no big TV presence, no funny suits, no NHL experience to fall-back on in an appeal to authority… just the low-grade bigotry and paeans to “toughness.”
