Iamhaljordan , Friedman tweeted last night the GM job is on hold in Carolina at least short term, Waddell is it at this point.
There is some rumblings the NYI may have an interest.

The guy is 75 and has had a successful career. If I were him, I would ride off into the sunset.

Shanahan and Lamoriello will be talking at a press conference at 1pm today.
Also, as the posted statement says Lamoriello could stay on as an advisor but many, along with me, don’t believe that will happen.

Maybe Lou and Brian Burke can have their own show on Sportsnet.

Very brief conference call, Lamoriello says he intends to honour his current contract with no thought of moving on. Shanahan says no timetable for replacement, based on late June NHL draft or otherwise.
I am still in the belief if an offer from another team comes around, Lamoriello will take it, unless his contract says otherwise.

Does Toronto really need a “senior advisor”? Just about anyone watching at home could advise to find some D and an upgrade in goal. Pay up for that senior advice.

My biggest hope is that they drag this out for as long as possible so that the hockey media can ignore the playoffs and focus most of their attention on the re-shuffling of the Leafs’ front office. </snark>

This is why I can’t stand the media. All the headlines, “Lou out as GM” “Lou not returning as GM” they make it all sound so dramatic.
The headline should be, “Lou’s contract being fulfilled, three year term as GM has been completed and will now move to Senior Adviser role as agreed to at contract signing”.
Sure, it’s long. But it’s not as far-fetched!

The true new GM currently holds the title of Maple Leafs head coach.

All the headlines, “Lou out as GM” “Lou not returning as GM” they make it all sound so dramatic.
So Lou’s not out as GM? He is returning?
I’m sorry if I don’t see the mistake they’ve made.

I think maybe a headline isn’t what you think it is.

It’s almost like if you put enough egos into a room together, they can’t co-exist.
And Toronto has plenty of egos.
