Kerry Bubolz Named President Of The NHL Franchise In Las Vegas

10/03/2016 at 4:14pm EDT

LAS VEGAS (Oct. 3, 2016) – Bill Foley and Black Knight Sports and Entertainment, LLC, announced today that Kerry Bubolz has been hired as the team’s president.

Bubolz joins the new Las Vegas NHL team after spending 13 years with the National Basketball Association's Cleveland Cavaliers and Quicken Loans Arena organization. Since 2013, Bubolz served as the president of business operations, where he was responsible for the oversight of ticket and suite sales; corporate sponsorship revenue; broadcasting, marketing and communications; fan and community engagement; digital and social engagement; and box office operations. Bubolz also served as president and alternate governor for all franchise property teams owned by the Cavaliers Operating Company, including the Cleveland Monsters of the American Hockey League (AHL), the Canton Charge of the NBA Development League and the Cleveland Gladiators of the Arena Football League.

Kerry played a leadership role in the Cavaliers’ acquisition of an NBA Development League franchise and the launch of the new franchise in Canton, Ohio, in July 2011. At the time the Canton Charge began play, it was just the fifth franchise in the league to be exclusively owned and operated by an NBA team.

Kerry was also instrumental in helping the Cavaliers’ organization purchase the Arena Football League’s Cleveland Gladiators prior to the start of the 2012 AFL season.

Before joining the Cavaliers Operating Company, Kerry served as the vice president of sales for both the NHL Carolina Hurricanes and Southwest Sports Group, which included the NHL Dallas Stars and Major League Baseball’s Texas Rangers. Prior to this, Kerry served in several senior management roles, including president and chief operating officer, for the International Hockey League’s Cleveland Lumberjacks.

“We conducted an extensive search to find the right president for our hockey franchise. I am happy to announce that Kerry is that leader,” said Bill Foley, majority owner of the Las Vegas NHL franchise. “Kerry has a wealth of experience leading business operations of not only teams in the NHL, but most recently the world champion Cleveland Cavaliers. He will be able to leverage that varied experience to bring the very best to the Las Vegas NHL franchise. I am looking forward to working with Kerry to create a successful franchise for our community, our fans and our team.”

Bubolz received his bachelor’s degree in marketing from Oklahoma State University.

“I am excited to join the new Las Vegas NHL team, to be a part of building a franchise from the start and to work with Bill Foley and George McPhee to create a successful and unforgettable franchise,” said Bubolz.

Black Knight Sports and Entertainment, LLC, conducted a comprehensive, nationwide executive search using Turnkey Search, the top recruitment firm in sports and entertainment. Turnkey delivered a very deep slate of candidates to choose from and was instrumental in helping identify a great hire.
