Jussi Jokinen Signs A One-Year Contract With The Edmonton Oilers

The Edmonton Oilers have signed forward Jussi Jokinen to a one-year contract.

Jokinen, 34, played with the Florida Panthers in 2016-17, serving as an alternate captain and posting 28 points (11G, 17A) and 39 penalty minutes in 69 games.

The native of Kalijoki, Finland also represented Finland at the 2016 World Cup of Hockey. In 2015-16, he amassed 60 points (18G, 42A) and 42 penalty minutes in 81 games for the Panthers, ranking second in team scoring.

The 6'0", 198-pound forward has appeared in 891 career NHL games with Dallas, Tampa Bay, Carolina, Pittsburgh and Florida, accumulating 546 points (186G, 360A) and 365 penalty minutes. In addition, Jokinen has played in 56 playoff games, posting 32 points (17G, 15A) and 20 penalty minutes.

The market rate for vets is astounding. Jussi doesn’t suck….1.1 wow!

League is turning into musical chairs.  Cap constraints ars peicing out the mid tier player, good not grest have to take less money for a spot on a team.

Someone mentioned thered be a premium on league min guys soon
