James Reimer Headed To San Jose

SAN JOSE - San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks) General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has acquired goaltender James Reimer (RIGH-muhr) and forward Jeremy Morin (moh-REHN) from the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for goaltender Alex Stalock, forward Ben Smith and a conditional 2018 fourth round draft selection.

"James is an experienced NHL goaltender who will help add to our depth at that position as we head down the stretch run of the season," said Wilson. Jeremy gives our group another versatile forward and a player that our coaching staff is familiar with. We're excited to add them both to our organization."

Reimer, 27, has played in 207 NHL games, all with Toronto, posting an 85-76-23 record with a .914 save percentage, a 2.83 goals-against average and 11 shutouts. He also appeared in seven playoff games with Toronto in 2013, posting a 3-4 record and a .923 save percentage and a 2.88 goals-against average.

Internationally, the Morweena, Mantioba native has represented Canada twice at the World Championships (2011 and 2014), posting an cumulative record of 7-1, a .915 save percentage and a 2.13 goals-against average.

He was originally drafted by Toronto in the 4th round (99th overall) in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft

Morin, 24, is currently playing with the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, where in 41 games between Toronto and Rockford, he has scored 28 points (11 goals, 17 assists), along with 32 penalty minutes and a +7 rating.

In 82 NHL games with Chicago and Columbus, Morin has posted 22 points (10 goals, 12 assists) along with 69 penalty minutes and a +8 rating.

He was originally selected by Atlanta in the second round (45th overall) of the 2009 NHL Draft and played under Sharks Assistant Coach Steve Spott in Kitchener (OHL).

Stalock appeared in 62 games with San Jose over five seasons, posting a 24-19-7 record, a 2.37 goals-against average and a .911 save percentage.

Smith was acquired by San Jose last season from Chicago and played in 25 games with San Jose, adding five points (two goals, three assists.

"Alex and Ben have both been important members of our team on the ice but even more importantly, they are both tremendous teammates and first-class individuals," said Wilson. "They will be missed and we want to thank them for everything they have given to the San Jose Sharks organization and our fans.
