VEGAS (November 4, 2021) – Vegas Golden Knights General Manager Kelly McCrimmon announced today, November 4, the following roster transactions: the team has acquired forward Jack Eichel and adraft pick from the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for Vegas Golden Knights forwards Alex Tuch, Peyton Krebs and draft picks. The situations of the draft picks are listed below:

If Vegas’ First Round draft pick in the 2022 NHL Draft is not a top-10 pick (following the Draft Lottery results) then:

  • Vegas will transfer its own First Round pick in the 2022 NHL Draft and its own Second Round pick in the 2023 NHL Draft to Buffalo
  • Buffalo will transfer its own Third Round pick in the 2023 NHL Draft to Vegas

If Vegas’ First Round draft pick in the 2022 NHL Draft is a top-10 pick (following the Draft Lottery results) then:

  • Vegas will transfer its own First Round pick in the 2023 NHL Draft and its own Second Round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft to Buffalo
  • Buffalo will transfer its own Third Round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft to Vegas

Golden Knights General Manager Kelly McCrimmon will be available to the media on Thursday, November 4 at 11:15 a.m. ET/8:15 a.m. PT via zoom. The zoom link information is listed below. Eichel’s availability will be announced at a later time.

The 25-year-old Eichel is a veteran of 375 NHL games – all with the Sabres – and has tallied 139 goals and 216 assists for 355 points in his NHL career. He has recorded 20 goals or more in four seasons. Last season, he finished with 18 points (2 G, 16 A) in 21 games, which was limited due to injury.

The native of North Chelmsford, Massachusetts had served as Buffalo’s captain from the start of the 2018-19 season. Eichel has also been selected to three All-Star games in his career (2018, 2019 and 2020) and was named to the 2016 NHL All-Rookie Team. During his collegiate career, he became the second freshman to win the Hobey Baker Award, and first since Paul Kariya in 1993. During his only season with Boston University, Eichel led the nation with 26 goals, 45 assists and 71 points and was named the Hockey East scoring champion, Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year, earned First Team Hockey East honors, was a member of the All-Rookie Team and was named MVP of the conference tournament.

Eichel was selected by the Buffalo Sabres in the First Round (2nd overall) of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.
