Anaheim Ducks right wing Corey Perry has been cleared from a case of mumps but defenseman Francois Beauchemin still has the infection, Dr. Craig Milhouse, the Ducks' physician, said Wednesday.
Both players have been quarantined while their cases were diagnosed. Perry is no longer contagious and is expected to rejoin the Ducks soon. Beauchemin remains in a hospital getting intravenous fluids, a Ducks official said.
"He's better today, and we anticipate that he'll be even more improved [Thursday], after he gets IV fluids," Milhouse said.
The Ducks will have the rest of the players vaccinated, Milhouse said.
Milhouse said it is not known how the two got the infection but there have been cases of mumps in the Anaheim area and that the health department is involved.
