via Darren Dreger tweet,
I’m hearing Keith Yandle has agreed to an extension. 5 years, $26.5 mil.
Ryan Whitney tweets too,
Keith Yandle becoming a very wealthy man by signing his new deal with the Phoenix Coyotes for 5 years 26.25 million.
added 5:31pm,
GLENDALE, ARIZONA – Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have signed All-Star defenseman Keith Yandle to a five-year contract. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“Keith is an elite player and one of the game’s best young defenseman,” said Maloney. “He is an important part of our future and we are thrilled to sign him to a long-term contract.”

Phoenix got a steal of a deal on this one. Yandle was one of the leagues top defenseman this year. He was pretty good in the playoffs too. Once in a while he’ll get screwed but he’s solid. Can’t believe he was willing to sign for $5million. He probably could have got a Campbell contract.

Is he been Setogutchi’d? Sign and trades have never been a staple in hockey, but this could be a way to establish a trade for a signed player.

He just signed the living condition lottery. One year in Phoenix and four years God only knows where.

Oh yeah, they other 29 teams are paying for it.
He’s worth the money. Is Phoenix not allowed to compete just because of their crap ownership situation? The NHL owners own the team and I’m sure they’re not interested in cratering its value by letting all their assets walk away. They didn’t get rich making dumb decisions.

They probably didn’t get rich throwing money into investments they KNEW weren’t going to turn a profit either.

Good point, but they have little choice with Phoenix right now. The real idiots in this saga is the gov’t of the City of Glendale and the real losers are the taxpayers. The owners probably aren’t happy to lose money but they put their faith in their little assbag Bettman so they will have to suck it up a bit longer. In the meantime, signng Yandle was a smart move.

During the entire time they have been in Phoenix, the coyotes have never made a profit - not $.01 So, how can they sign a guy for $5 mil/year????
Oh yeah, they other 29 teams are paying for it.
