The Washington Capitals have signed Mikhail Grabovski to a one-year deal.
The 29-year-old Belarussian spent the past five seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs, where he posted nine goals and seven assists last year in a lockout-shortened season.
A six-year veteran of the NHL, Grabovski had signed a five-year, $27.5 million extension with the Leafs in March 2012, but was then bought out by the club in July of this year after a post-season campaign where he was playoff-worst minus-10.

Grabovski told Sportsnet 590 the Fan’s Matt Brown on Thursday that he has agreed to a deal with the Washington Capitals that will be made official on Friday. An report early Thursday from a Belarus outlet said it was a one-year, $3-million deal.
