from Scott Cullen of TSN,
As NHL training camps get underway, it's time to drop the puck on Fantasy Hockey season. Earlier this week, I started with theTop 300 projected scorers and contributed to TSN's NHL Preview, too.
Now, here are the position-by-position Fantasy rankings, which incorporate more than scoring. For the purposes of these rankings, G, A, +/-, PPP, H, BLK and SOG are included. I've found that fewer leagues are using PIM as time goes on, so if you're still in such a league, you can make necessary adjustments.
A quick positional overview:
Centre is a deep position, but you're going to want an elite option if possible because there are so few players capable of putting up 70-plus points, and and I've forecasted a dozen centres to cross that threshold.
Because there are far fewer wingers at the elite level, it makes the best of them , like Alex Ovechkin, Jamie Benn, Phil Kessel and Joe Pavelski, worth even more in relative terms.
Defence offers many options, though Erik Karlsson and P.K. Subban are ahead of the rest in terms of production.
