Game 7 Trends

* The team that scores first is 136-46 (.747) in the 182 all-time Game 7s in the Stanley Cup Playoffs (1-0 in 2021).

* Home teams own a 106-76 (.582) advantage in the 182 all-time Game 7s in the Stanley Cup Playoffs (1-0 in 2021).

* Ninety-one of the 182 all-time Game 7s in the Stanley Cup Playoffs (50.0%) have been decided by a one-goal margin, including one of three in 2020.

* Forty-five Game 7s in the Stanley Cup Playoffs have required overtime (24.9%), including one of three in 2020. Home teams have a 23-22 edge in those contests (0-1 in 2020, played at a neutral site).

* Toronto owns an all-time record of 12-12 (.500) in 24 all-time Game 7s, including a 7-1 (.875) record at home; Montreal is 14-9 (.609), including a 6-6 (.500) mark on the road.

* Former Stanley Cup winners Corey Perry (3-2—5 in 8 GP) and Tyler Toffoli (2-2—4 in 5 GP) sit in first and second in terms of points and games played among all current Canadiens players in Game 7s. Joel Edmundson and Eric Staal each boast 4-0 career records in Game 7s.

* Monday will mark the 25th instance in NHL history in which two head coaches will simultaneously contest their first career Game 7. The last such occurrence was in the 2019 First Round, when Rod Brind'Amour and the Hurricanes earned a double-overtime win over Todd Reirden and the Capitals.
