1. Become a draft-day player
As it is, Flames director of scouting Tod Button doesn’t get a chance to clear his throat till the 64th pick (which represents the third-round choice the team got from the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for Anton Stralman).
Getting into the first two rounds would be swell, particularly for an organization with a dearth of forward prospects.

Interesting that the writer lists Tomas Holmstrom as an available free agent on June 25 when Holmstrom re-signed with the Wings on June 3.

2. Find a real pass-first center to play with Iginal. Stajan isn’t what he needs. Think Brad Richards, Joe Thornton, Vinny Prospal…
