“I played the game how I wanted to and the way I thought was right, I wouldn’t change it now. And whatever happens, happens. You live life once, you make your decisions and you go with it. And I’m perfectly happy with it.”

“What can [the league] do? You’re never going to prevent concussions. It’s a physical sport. It’s a contact sport … You’re never going to get rid of it in hockey.

“They’ve done as much as they can with the protection and they’ve done as much as they can with the rules when they try to make sure that they can try to get guys to respect each other and protect each other.”

I think the only way they are ever going to lessen all the head trauma is soften the pads, take away the armor they wear now.  Make the hitter feel the impact as much as the one being hit and you will see less of the stupid stuff along the boards and open ice because guys won’t be leading with their shoulders anymore.

Completely agree with this assessment. The players are overprotected and have no problems launching themselves as fortified missiles into opponents bodies.

The other thing that needs to be change is enforcement of the rules. The penalties for blatant head shots and hits from behind need to be longer, Guys start missing 10 games or more per violation and they’ll learn really quick.

JR as we all know, is an idiot. To say that nothing can be done is absurd.
