Evening Line- Jack Todd On P.K. Subban

You can’t fault what Subban does on the ice. He goes all-out nearly 30 minutes a game. But even as his team stumbled this season, Planet P.K. was burgeoning into an ever-larger marketing and social-media phenomenon, one that at times seems poised to swallow the Canadiens whole.

At some point, Subban has to decide which is his priority: Planet P.K. or his team. If you want to know how his teammates feel about him, remember they nominated Pacioretty for the King Clancy Trophy for leadership on and off the ice and significant contribution to the community despite Subban’s hospital announcement. The only way you can read this is Subban’s teammates are fed up with his act.

I would not mind if Subban moved to Detroit. If Datsyuk’s contract gets moved dsmewhere else Detroit can do some big acquisition. Red Wings, after loosing pillar of Datsyuks persononality, can finally immerse in to rebuild which is already long overdue. Shakeup is needed.
If Subban arrived to a racially divided metro where the stereotype about hockey being a white game is still alive, he can get the Nobel price for peace just for being a factor in catalyzing of unity between blacks and whites.

So tired of this stuff about Subban. Send him to the Wings, please. We’ll take all his “problems” and “baggage” and whatever other dog whistle bullshit the pearl-clutching media has said about him over the years.

The guy is a great player. He donated a boatload of money to the children’s hospital up there. And he’s one of the few INTERESTING personalities in the game. He actually gives an interesting interview once in a while. He is FUN to watch. The NHL needs more players like him because the game is so damn dry right now.
