Devante Smith-Pelly On A Scoring Binge With New Jersey

from Rich Chere of NJ.com,

Warning: Don't judge a trade on seven games.

Devils' general manager Ray Shero shouldn't start to think he got a steal in sending Stefan Matteau to the Montreal Canadiens at the NHL trade deadline for Devante Smith-Pelly. But after watching the impact the right winger has made so far (six goals, three assists in seven games), there is that possibility.

"When I first came here I said I was pretty confident in my ability," Smith-Pelley said after scoring two goals and assisting on another in the Devils' 7-4 win over the Minnesota Wild Thursday night at Prudential Center.

"Obviously I didn't think a goal per game. Right now it's going better than I thought, but I'm enjoying it."
