Sounds like Detroit wasn’t really into him.
Minny is out on Niskanen, sounds like Detroit might be in

Nice job Kenny, where were you on this? If you over pay for Niskanen I will have to get black out drunk tonight.

i think you might see a LOT of 1 yr deals. Once the money kicks in next year from the tv deal and the caps go up much higher the deals will be bigger. GM’s will remain cautious of this in my opinion

Wow.
This guy needs to fire his agent ASAFP.

A one year deal makes sense in a way. If Ehrhoff wants to erase the BUF stench around him, 1 successful year elsewhere could be a gateway to an even bigger payday again, especially if the cap goes up a lot next offseason.

Plus, Pit is a team in flux. A short deal assures the player a chance to bolt to avoid another Buff scenario if the Pit ship is sinking.

I can understand the one year deal with Pit. Just surprised he didn’t go elsewhere for longer term, OR go to Pit for larger salary. $4mil seems like a steal - maybe he is okay with it since he’ll be getting Buffalo money as well.

Nope, Primis is right. This is a brialliant move for Ehrhoff. He’ll put up 40-50 points and be +20 or more (ala Niskanen). He might be the most sought after UFA next year. He wouldn’t put up those kind of numbers in Detroit or anywhere else. And he’s already getting paid by Buffalo. Brilliant, brilliant strategy. Even if he gets injuried, he’s going to do no worse than $4 million next year.

So I guess Babcock was serious when he said that he really, really, really wanted right-handed defensemen.
