Can It Get Any Worse In Edmonton?

from Mark Spector of Sportsnet,

It’s broken in Edmonton. Smashed into a million pieces.

On Thursday night, the Oilers outplayed Florida for the entire opening period, but couldn’t buy a goal despite outshooting the Panthers 17-7. A couple of hours later, that “success” was but a distant memory, buried in a landslide of Florida goals.

Losers by a 6-0 score, the Oilers have now lost seven straight games and 13 of their past 15. This was yet another embarrassment, and truth be told, the group as it exists has not found a solution in weeks, putting up the worst record in the National Hockey League standings for a month and a half now.

This is not the worst team in the NHL. But it’s been playing like it for too long now.

So something has to change. Because as it exists today, this collection of players and coaches can not effect change by themselves.

They no longer have an answer.

Fire head coach Dave Tippett? It wouldn’t surprise us one bit if, for the first time in his career as a general manager, Ken Holland pulled the trigger on Friday.

The season is swirling down the drain, and the team isn’t getting any better. He can’t find a goalie, let alone one who can score on a nightly basis.

Game highlights are below.

When the oil well isn’t producing you yell at Maverick to lower down some more dynamite. Then the whole thing blows up.

Q:  What do Kenny Holland and Matt Millen have in common?

A: They were both general managers and given 5 year, $25 million contracts.

I feel bad for the fans. I feel bad for the players. Kenny Holland? Not so much.

Its a coaching issue.

Called it when he got hired there.

Called this season when he resigned Smith who’s always injured and banked on him, for some reason, to play over a 3rd the season.  Went and got Kieth because “closer to the net, older you should be”

Kenney was said to not understand the CAP when it was instituted. It is complex and if you do not have a handle on it and a good calculator or software, might as well resign. Watch highlites, pitiful and Florida looks unstoppable to me as long as Bob is in the nets.

Kenney was said to not understand the CAP when it was instituted.

In the four years directly after the Cap was implemented, the Wings finished:

First Round Exit
Conference Finals Exit
Stanley Cup Win
Cup Finals Loss

Come on, this is such a freezing cold take. lmao.

What do you suppose Kenny would give for Greiss and DDK? Greiss is immediate goaltending help, and has reasonable playoff numbers. And KH likes(liked) DDK enough to sign him to that big deal, which expires this summer.
