Big Loss For The New Jersey Devils, Travis Zajac Out 4-6 Months

Newark, NJ - New Jersey Devils Executive Vice President/General Manager Ray Shero provided the following update on center Travis Zajac.
"This morning, Travis Zajac underwent successful surgery to repair a torn left pectoral muscle that was suffered last week during off-season training. The procedure was performed by the club's Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Jonathan L. Glashow. Zajac's expected recovery time is approximately four to six months."

Wonder if what theyd trade for a center.. maybe Helm? One of the few teams with cap space.

Helm is definitely the kind of player they could use, but not on the 1st line. I think it’s more likely they make the Duchene trade happen.

Duchene woukd cost them a premium. Helm would require less assets than Duchene, put him into your top 6 as the 2C and shelter your other 2Cs Dzone starts with a D and face ofd specialist.

The NHL should not permit the players to perform off-season training. You never know when a player can get injured and miss significant time, thereby impacting their team’s performance.
Especially if it has anything to do with growing the game like the Olympics. That would be such a horrible waste.
