Alex Ovechkin Plans To Play In The 2018 Olympics

MOSCOW, August 19. /TASS/. NHL Washington Capitals forward Alexander Ovechkin is ready to play for the Russian national ice hockey team at the 2018 Winter Olympics even if the NHL bans him from coming to South Korea, he told journalists on Wednesday.

"The same situation was with the [2014] Sochi Games, they said NHL could not be allowed to come," Ovechkin said. "I hope the sides will reach an agreement."

"Anyway, I and other players will definitely come [to the Olympics2018]," he added.

The 2018 Winter Olympics will be held from February 9 to 25, 2018, in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

Me too, the time factor will be a challenge, but what the heck else do we have to do in February.

In case you are wondering, the time difference is 13+ hours from ET.

I’m not always a fan of Ovechkin, but the nationalistic/patriotic pride he shows on the international stage is amazing, and I wish all players would feel the same way (although I believe most do!).

Contracts, CBA’s, and money aside, the international stage allows all people to watch the best hockey around and players playing only for pride & bragging rights.

Thank goodness for DVR. Now if I can just keep off the interwebs and my hands firmly planted over my ears, I can maybe watch a game without knowing the outcome.
