A Two-Year Contract For Sam Bennett In Calgary

Calgary, AB – The Calgary Flames announced today that they have signed forward Sam Bennett to a two-year contract.

 Bennett, a native of Holland Landing, Ontario played 81 games with Calgary last season recording 13 goals and 13 assists for 26 points along with 75 penalty minutes in the regular season and a pair of goals in four playoff games. As the Flames first round pick in the 2014 NHL Draft, the 21-year-old forward has played 159 career NHL games, notching 31 goals and 32 assists for 63 points while accumulating 112 penalty minutes.

 Term: 2 Years

AAV: $1.95M

I would say the exact deal AA should get. 2 year prove it deal.

AA has a slightly higher ppg: .43 vs .40 (rounded up) and definitely scores at a higher rate (27 goals/101 gp vs 31 goals/159 gp).

Honestly I cant tell if this would be good or bad news for AA.

On the one hand, AA is a better scorer so far, and +/- is atrociously in his favor. So pay him more.

On the other hand, Bennett has a more modest shooting %, higher upside, former 1st round pick.
