COLUMBUS, OHIO -- The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed forward Boone Jenner to a two-year contract extension through the 2017-18 National Hockey League season, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today. As is club policy, terms were not disclosed.
Jenner, 22, has set career highs in goals, assists (tied) and points this season with 22 goals and 13 assists for 35 points to go along with 65 penalty minutes in 63 games. He ranks second on the club in goals, power play goals (seven), game-winning goals (two, tied), shots (174) and hits (167), while ranking third in penalty minutes (tied) and fifth in points. One of the club’s alternate captains, he is one of three Blue Jackets – Ryan Murray and Gregory Campbell – that have played in all 63 games this season.
“Boone Jenner is a terrific young player, who works extremely hard at both ends of the ice and is just beginning to scratch the surface of what he can be as a National Hockey League player,” said Kekalainen. “He has tremendous character and is an exemplary representative of our club on and off the ice.”
