VEGAS (October 28, 2021) – Vegas Golden Knights General Manager Kelly McCrimmon announced today, October 28, that the team has signed defenseman Zach Whitecloud to a six-year contract extension through the 2027-28 season worth an average annual value of $2,750,000.
Whitecloud has appeared in 72 career games for the Golden Knights and has recorded 14 points (2 G, 12 A) to go with 30 penalty minutes. He has also appeared in 39 Stanley Cup Playoff games for Vegas, recording seven points (3 G, 4 A). He has appeared in four NHL games this season, collecting one assist. During the 2019-20 season, the Brandon, Manitoba native appeared in 35 games for the American Hockey League’s Chicago Wolves and had seven points (2 G, 5 A) to go with 18 penalty minutes. During the 2018-19 season with Chicago, Whitecloud recorded 28 points (6 G, 22 A) to go with 52 penalty minutes in 74 regular-season games in his first full professional season. In the 2019 Calder Cup Playoffs, Whitecloud posted 15 points (3 G, 12 A) to go with 15 penalty minutes in 22 playoff games. He made his NHL debut with the Golden Knights at the Edmonton Oilers on April 5, 2018. Whitecloud signed with the Golden Knights on March 8, 2018 after finishing his collegiate career with Bemidji State University.
