A New Twist Regarding Jack Johnson’s Financial Issues?

from Rick Westhead of TSN,

Bankrupt NHL star defenceman Jack Johnson is accused of being in cahoots with his parents in taking out a string of high-interest loans.

RFF Family Partnerships, a California-based marketing company which is among Johnson’s largest creditors in his bankruptcy case, accuses the Columbus Blue Jacket of committing “false representation and/or actual fraud” during the year-old case.

Johnson shocked the hockey world nearly a year ago when he filed for bankruptcy, disclosing that he had amassed more than $10 million worth of debt. In an even more startling twist, Johnson said his parents were to blame for his financial distress.

I wondered about this some time ago:  What if it really is a lot Jack’s doing, and it is in fact his parents taking a hit for him to try and help protect his image?  I don’t know about his relationship with his folks, but it was at least apparently good enough for him to trust them with huge sums of money.  If that’s the case would it not be possible for a parent/parents to want to protect their son?

Jack certainly has not acted like he’s furious at his parents, nor have his parents publicly tried to dissuade what he’s been saying.  It sure sounds like they probably are all more closely involved in this than they would like people to realize.

I never bought the parents doing all of this behind his back bit. He’s too much of a mommy/daddy’s boy for that to have happened in my opinion.

And to Primis’ point about not hearing from the parents, Jack’s dad has way too big of a mouth and ego not to have spoken out against the charges by now.
