A Few Tips For The Montreal Canadiens

from John Romano of the Tampa Bay Times

You know, not every market can be as proficient in the game as Tampa Bay. The way I understand it, the Canadiens have not won a Stanley Cup, or had even made it to the finals, since the year the Lightning were born. Tampa Bay, of course, has won two Cups and is on the verge of hogging it for yet another year.

So perhaps the Lightning could take it a little easier on the Canadiens in this Stanley Cup final. Maybe not punk them in front of their tiny little crowd. After beating the Canadiens 6-3 in Montreal in Game 3 on Friday night, the Lightning moved to within one victory of the first Stanley Cup final sweep in 23 years.

Meanwhile, the Canadiens are down to their last chance to win a game in the final since Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was a college student in Montreal just about a mile down the road from the Bell Centre.

“We have a gameplan, right? And everybody is buying in and everybody is doing their job,” said wing Nikita Kucherov, who had a goal and an assist in Game 3. “When everybody is doing their job, it makes it easier. We play a full 60 minutes the right way.”

Honestly, it wouldn’t be that difficult for the Lightning to give these guys a few tips. Nothing too fancy, just some pointers for hockey novices.

For instance, it’s totally okay for defensemen to score. No, seriously, this is true. The Lightning were up 2-0 in Game 3 because the Canadiens didn’t bother to cover either Jan Rutta or Victor Hedman, and both defensemen blasted in shots from more than 50 feet away.

What a prick this guy is.  Tampa is a very worthy champion - even if they had too many men on the ice for the Gourde goal in Game 7 vs NYI and WAY over the cap….clearly - they are the best team.  But why dump on MTL?  They played great hockey and beat everyone in front of them.

I know - he is trying to make a name for himself and get clicks…..

But - this makes me discount any future hockey article he writes as being a partisan hack.

For this reason - I hope that Tampa sweeps and the fans empty out of there so Tampa and Romano can celebrate again in an empty building.

Not going to click.

Will just note that this idiot is mostly just
creating totally needless ill will toward an entire market
and franchise. I guess he’s trying to be ironic in acting like
Tampa is a more accomplished franchise than Montreal?
And not just ignorant. But see: can’t rule out the latter.

And what’s the point of mocking “their tiny crowds”?
There is nothing like a Montreal crowd. So the province’s
government didn’t approve higher attendance - that sucks.
But it’s obviously got nothing to do with the market and the fans.

So I’ll say again: pause too much too close and a lot of Tampa fans look like they got lost on the way to a pro wrestling event.

As if the TBL sports MSM isn’t as condescending as their wet fart-sniffing fans, here comes Romano with a write up that just leaks.  Yuck.

What an *#$%@& writer.  And you can quote me on that.

If he had any cajones he would have written this before game one.

The way I understand it, the Canadiens have not won a Stanley Cup, or had even made it to the finals, since the year the Lightning were born.

Which means they won—*counts on fingers and toes* oops, wan outta pitties—24 Stanley *#$%@& Cups before your shit team was even a glimmer in Gary Bettman’s glassy, beady little eyes.

I really hope this “article” is tongue-in-cheek; otherwise, have some goddamned respect, you shit-sucking mouth-breather.
