2019 Kraft Hockeyville USA Is Tonight

09/26/2019 at 1:50pm EDT

STAMFORD, Conn. – September 26, 2019 – NBC Sports takes hockey fans to the world’s oldest in-use indoor ice arena tonight at 7 p.m. ET on NBCSN, when the defending Stanley Cup Champion St. Louis Blues face the Detroit Red Wings in the 2019 Kraft Hockeyville USA from Calumet Colosseum in Calumet, Mich.

This year marks the fifth season of the Kraft Hockeyville USA campaign, whose mission is to help build better hockey communities across the country. The village of Calumet, Mich., won this year’s competition, which includes $150,000 in rink upgrades for Calumet Colosseum and $10,000 worth of new equipment from the NHLPA Goals & Dreams fund.

Calumet Colosseum, which was built in 1913 and is the oldest in-use indoor ice arena in the world, is located in Calumet in the Upper Peninsula’s “Copper Country,” often considered the “birthplace of professional hockey” in North America. The International Professional Hockey League lasted for three seasons from 1904-07 and Calumet Miners were one of the league’s five teams. NBCSN’s telecast will honor the rich hockey history in Calumet and the surrounding area.

This marks the second time that Michigan’s Upper Peninsula will host Kraft Hockeyville USA, following the 2016 Kraft Hockeyville USA event in Marquette, Mich. The Red Wings are making their first appearance in the game, while the Blues are making their second appearance.

The defending champion Blues are led by Conn Smythe Trophy-winner Ryan O’Reilly and team captain Alex Pietrangelo, who scored in St. Louis’ decisive Stanley Cup Final Game 7 win in Boston. Red Wings alternate captain and Michigan native Dylan Larkin enters his fifth season in the league following career highs in goals (32) and points (73) in 2018-19.

Brendan Burke (play-by-play) and Emmy Award-winning ‘Inside-the-Glass’ analyst Pierre McGuire will call the action live from Calumet Colosseum. In addition, Liam McHugh (host) and Jeremy Roenick (analyst) will also be on-site to provide studio coverage and updates throughout the game.
