Hey, Marty! Marty Turco!
Yes, I know it’s you. C’mon turn around and let’s have a chat. I know you’re busy making the rounds of all the franchises, checking to see if you can make a deal to be invited to training camp, and hey, just maybe be offered a backup job. That’s what I’m here to talk to you about.
No, not a job. Seriously, do I look like an assistant GM? Nope, we’re going to spend ten minutes on what you’re doing, why you’re doing it, and maybe why it’s not in your best interests. So, let’s call this a little electronic intervention towards your best interests. Ten minutes, that’s all I’m asking.

First, let me say I am really happy that there’s a 3 year waiting period for election to the Hockey Hall of Fame, since that gives everyone a better chance to cool down and reflect on a career, rather than operating on emotion.
That said, there’s still a lot of discussion going on, and some alleged pundits must have had “No Way Osgood Gets Into the Hockey Hall Of Fame” columns stored away on their disks, hands hovering over the “send” command, just waiting….
Me? I’ve been running the numbers, and working through the history on Chris Osgood.

And we have ours. Let me introduce you to Laurie, who knows all when it comes to goaltending.
Don’t believe, me, read on…
-Paul
It’s 42C in the Mojave Desert, and I’m thinking about goaltending in the NHL, possibly a bit in the AHL, and what’s going on the NCAA. No, this isn’t a diversionary tactic to keep my brain fron frying in the heat.
There’s been a lot of “change partners and dance” going on in the goalie ranks. Bryzgalov headed east, Varlamov headed west, Theodore headed south, Vokun headed north, and Osgood just headed on. The pundits didn’t even let the goodbye cake get stale before they declared Osgood not fit for the Hockey Hall of Fame. Good thing these aren’t the same people who vote. But Skippy’s ultimate Hall of Fame fate, and where that Skippy moniker came from, is another column….
