Jokinen Happy to be on Broadway

From Andrew Gross at Ranger Rants:

New Jersey-based agent Todd Diamond, who helps represent new Ranger center Olli Jokinen, said his client was excited about the opportunity that the deal consummated early this morning to bring him to New York along with rugged Brandon Prust in exchange for Ales Kotalik and Christopher Higgins affords him.

“Olli is happy to come back East, where he had success,” Diamond said. “I think it’s a good fit.”

Specifically, Diamond was talking about the seven seasons Jokinen spent with the Florida Panthers, more specifically the 173 goals and 201 assists he compiled while missing just one game in the five seasons from 2002-08. Diamond said coach John Tortorella should be comfortable with what Jokinen can bring to the team, based on Tortorella coaching against him all those seasons for that other club in the Sunshine State.
