Here’s what you need to know as you plan your fantasy team for the weekend. Of course, all of us who have played any kind of fantasy sports know that planning and skill only go so far – you also need the luck o’ the Irish. (Thankfully, my ancestry is one-quarter Irish.)
Saturday: 22 teams in action
Sunday: 12 teams in action
Teams with two weekend games: Carolina, Columbus, Nashville, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh
Teams with no weekend games: Dallas
All other teams play one game.
Saturday starters, according to Left Wing Lock: Ilya Bryzgalov, PHI; Brian Boucher, CAR; Dwayne Roloson, TB; Cory Schneider, VAN; Jimmy Howard, DET.

A total of 13 games are on tap for Saturday, meaning that only four teams are not in action: Edmonton, Colorado, Calgary, and St. Louis. The Flames are the only team that do not play this weekend, so your weekend waiver-wire choices can be from any other team. Anaheim, Columbus, Los Angeles, Ottawa, and Toronto all play both Saturday and Sunday, giving you possible bonus production for players from those teams.
In this edition of the Pick Six, I’ll focus on some hot and cold players, but I will start with two upper-level goaltenders with big contracts currently struggling with playing in high-pressure markets (aka goalie graveyards).
