Pick Six: Thursday March 1

Now that the trade deadline has finally come and gone, we can now focus on gearing our fantasy teams toward the fantasy playoffs. In one league, my fantasy playoffs start next week, so it’s important that I have my team in order so that I can compete for the money!
So what’s in store for Thursday? Nine games, that’s what. The matchup to watch will involve a surging St. Louis team rolling into Vancouver to play the Canucks, who are back from a grueling six-game road trip. Could it be a possible playoff preview?
Without further ado, the Pick Six for Thursday…

Fantasy Hockey/Kukla’s Korner League Midterm Report

Let’s study the secrets of the success of… a third-place team.
Okay, so it’s not first place. But it is a 16-team league. And a team that has rattled off ten consecutive wins in head-to-head league competition, following three consecutive losses to start the season.
There is probably no better time than the All-Star break to assess the situation of your fantasy team. That is what I intend to do while I provide my midterm report for the fantasyhockey.com/Kukla’s Korner League midterm results.

Pick Six: Saturday December 3

A total of 12 games are on the schedule for Saturday, meaning that all but six teams (Detroit, Colorado, Minnesota, Anaheim, Columbus, and Vancouver – all from the Western Conference) are in action. All of those teams except for the Blue Jackets play on Sunday, while Calgary is the only team that plays both Saturday and Sunday. So it should go without saying that you should load up on Flames and avoid Blue Jackets if you need to make up ground in offense this week in head-to-head leagues. Aside from the Flames and Blue Jackets, here are my weekend recommendations.

Pick Six: Wednesday October 26/Thursday October 27

Here is the latest Pick Six, a goaltending-rich version that covers games for both Wednesday and Thursday. And by mentioning goaltending, it’s important to remember not to read too much into the early-season struggles of certain goalies. Remember when Marc-Andre Fleury went 1-6 to start last season and Penguins fans wondered if Brent Johnson should be the starter? Having said that, there are a few early-season goaltending waiver-wire opportunities, along with some big names that you should keep an eye on, just in case.
