Torres Gets Food Poisoning -- Suspension to be Re-Evaluated?

04/15/2011 at 5:00pm EDT

He’s still expected to travel with the Vancouver Canucks to Chicago, but a league source told me this on the phone a few moments ago:

Torres’ expected return for game 3 is being challenged by the Blackhawks, arguing that since he would have missed the game with food poisoning, he may have to sit another game when he is healthy to properly serve the terms of his suspension.

Say what???? He explained further:

“Man, you Canucks fans will believe anything on a playoff game day…”

Sorry, just having some fun. :) (And yes, someone actually DID try to tell me that—I’m not making that up. I’ve just got evil friends.)

But Torres didget food poisoning, as it happens.

Honestly, I don’t understand why those guys don’t have professional food tasters during the playoffs.

Although I guess you can’t protect them from everything. It seems like only yesterday we had Brent Sopel taken out by a saltine cracker…
