But to be fair (as much as I know how to be) I’ll have to disagree with Luongo: there’s no way “that could have been us.” Vancouver got as far as it was going to get. As much as we hoped for otherwise, the Canucks weren’t ready to get further than they did.

But on the bright side, Luongo himself had a smashing success of a season.

The league, of course, took notice, which is why Luongo was voted a finalist for three major NHL trophies - the Hart, the Pearson and the Vezina - to be presented at tomorrow’s gala awards night in Toronto.

The NHL hardware is being handed out tomorrow night and I find it hard to imagine Luongo won’t take home one of those honors. If so, that would make him only the 4th Canuck in history to pick up a major award.
