imagePerhaps some people consider it bad form to call out another writer, but hell, it never stops people from calling me out. (I was told to "eat it" by a Dallas fan after game 2. But geez, I was being a jackass... I had it coming). So when I saw this posting at the Dallas News site Monday, I got irritated. Here's the opening:
Dave Tippett has saved his job. Marty Turco has forged a reputation. And Mike Modano has silenced his critics. All that's left is for Dallas to make history. They'll do it tonight.Mark it down. It's going to happen. The Stars will beat Vancouver and become the first team in franchise history to overcome a 3-1 series deficit.Trust me, I know it sounded laughable a few days ago because the Stars were sleep-walking through the series no matter how much Tippett begged them to play with passion. The notion of a Stars victory in the series seemed silly because their offense was bad, their power play was worse and they needed to beat Roberto Luongo, the league's best goalie this season, three consecutive times. Now, it seems like a certainty. The Stars controlled Game 5 and dominated Game 6. The Stars are the deeper, more talented team. And when they play with passion, the Canucks can't hang with them.
My response to this annoying column before Game 7 opened was: "In addition to winning the first round, and all the associated joy that would bring, I will also enjoy shoving that Dallas News Blog editorial straight up someone’s ass later."But you know what? Now that it's all over and we've destroyed that column in the very best way possible, I'm feeling generous and forgiving. I'll take the high road and say nothing more about it.Nice to let the words speak for themselves -- "the Canucks can't hang with them." I'm sure the writer feels very bad about it now.Peace. Out.(Oh, and one more thing... Eat It, Texas.)
