Last night’s eye injury to Manny Malhotra—discussed here in The Province and featuring one pretty gory photo—prompted Alain Vigneault to caution people not to “speculate one way or another” last night.
But speculation has been rampant all morning, and now, from TSN’s Bob McKenzie, a hint that bad news may realistically be on the horizon:
Canucks will provide update at some point but hearing, unfortunately, Malhotra’s eye injury is not minor. Wait and see proposition.
Update 12:43pm PT: via Jason Botchford—
Manny Malhotra had surgery on his eye, will see a specialist before a timeline is known, Concern is his vision
Update 1:35pm PT:TSN notes there are no broken bones. The vision is the primary concern.
Update 4:23pm PT: Not surprisingly, the word is “out indefinitely.” As noted, Victor Oreskovich was called up earlier, filling the spot for now.
Our prayers to Malhotra… having one’s vision compromised must be a terrifying experience.
