The CBC has their dedicated website up for Canada’s Hockey Anthem Challenge and entries will be accepted starting today until the end of August. The prize is $100,000.
One important restriction: the contest is open to Canadian residents only. So if you’re a brilliant American or Swedish or Slovakian or… (etc) musical composer, maybe send the theme to me. I’ll claim the prize and we’ll split the cash. (Deal?? Personally, I think this is a brilliant plan…)
Some notes:
All entries will be posted online where hockey fans can listen, rate, debate and pick the winner. So if you’re at all sensitive to criticism, don’t be submitting a tune.
There will be at least 5 semifinalists presented to the country and judged by a celebrity panel on a CBC network television special on Oct. 4. The judges will be announced shortly.
Formats accepted are (1) audio (mp3, wav, realaudio - 150 mb max size); (2) video (mpeg, wmv, avi, mov - 150 mb max file size)
The only information not available yet is where exactly to send submissions, so watch their site for more updates.
