Lew-ongo first made his appearance on this blog on Friday night. Since that turned out pretty well, I’ve adopted him as a C&B mascot for a while. Can’t mess with what works—this little guy might have special powers, or something.
I’ve come down with the flu and will remain perfectly sober for this game. Ugh. Go Canucks!
Pre-Game Update— Sami Salo back! Fitzpatrick out, Bieksa still out.
End of First Period—
Canucks out shot the Ducks 13-2, carried the play completely and finally made a PP pay off. AND they bailed out Luongo from a Hasek-like moment. Tied 1-1, it would be nice to be up one or two, but I can’t say I have any complaints. (Except for Neale’s “hockey vasectomy” comment. Even I cringed at that one…)
note: a text message from Greg reliably informs me to mentioning BUBLA on the blog will be a good luck charm going into the 2nd. So… here’s to Bubla!!
End of Second Period—
Canucks came back to earth, as the Ducks woke up and played a much better period. And yet we STILL came out of it tied 2-2, so that’s all good. I think that Bubla Power might actually work. Bubla!
End of Third Period—
Canucks looked a lot more tired in the third period. The hits seemed to be wearing on them and they were falling all over the place with about 10 minutes left in the game. Tired? Not sure. Regardless, not finding a way to pick up at least one other PP goal was a critical failure. It also wasn’t Luongo’s best game either. Some nights he steals that game… just not tonight.
Sigh. The hockey “experts” will be happy for a couple days, but we’ll win #4, I expect.
Hopefully I won’t still have the flu that night. I can’t do this shit sober too often.
