Game On -- GM Place Game #4

05/01/2007 at 7:29pm EDT

The only newsworthy info I’ve got is from Grant Kerr at the Globe & Mail:

Vancouver will make one lineup change in Game 4 after left winger Jeff Cowan was sent to club doctors to determine the extent of his unannounced injury from the previous game. He did not skate between games and likely will be replaced by Nathan Smith.
Vigneault ruled out injured defenceman Kevin Bieksa (upper body) from playing for at least another game after missing the first three contests against the Ducks.

Kerr’s also got a bunch of stuff about the NHL awards nominees, including Canucks. We’re heading into a huge game and I couldn’t care less myself, but head over there if you want that scoop.

Note: One piece of unrelated news. You might recall that The Crazy Canucks podcast was on television last week. Well, at the same time CTV knocked on our door, they were also hunting for A Real Live American Canucks Fan! so they chose one who calls himself a Yankee, to prevent any confusion. He’ll be on CTV News tonight, sometimes during the 6 o’clock news hour. Don’t miss it!

Update:
One more thing. If you’ve got tickets to this game, can you please make some damn noise? Honestly, it sounded like the Anaheim Public Library in that place on Sunday night. Be excited for godsakes—it’s a hockey game, not a ballet!

Update #2:
And one more thing (sorry, but it’s never just “one”...) The stats wizard Forechecker calculated last week that Vancouver should win this series in 6 games. I still say it’ll take 7, but I do like his mathematically-supported optimism.

Update #3—Pre-Game:
Evidence that Chris Pronger’s mutation into a quacker started long before leaving Edmonton. (Thanks to Earl for the inspiration...) :)

Update #4—After 2nd Period:
A 2-0 lead? What? I’m so confused… in such a deliriously happy way…. :)
Now it’s time to be terrified for the coming 20 minutes. Or longer.

Update #5—Mid-Way Thru 3rd Period:
How many open nets can the Canucks miss? How many can Hansen alone miss? We should make a game of it. God.

Update #6—End of 3rd:
Oh Yay! Overtime! If it isn’t unnecessarily heart-attack inducing, it just doesn’t feel like Canucks hockey, right? Lord help us if Giguere finally picks NOW to start blocking all those holes we’ve been missing with our shots flying by the net.

Update #7 - End of Game OT:
Ducks win. Fuc#ing nightmare. Nuff said.
